Nassau, The Bahamas – This past August 16, 2024, Vivian Group Founding Principal and Managing Director, Gabriella Fraser, facilitated the mid-day session – “2024 and Beyond │ Our Future Lies Before Us” of the “We Ideate – Vision 2040 National Development Plan” workshop.
The session explored enabling factors necessary for moving the Vision 2040 National Development Plan (NDP) forward, and sustaining such advancement, with bi-partisan support.
Panellists included Mr. Tim Ingraham, Chairman of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers’ Confederation (BCCEC); Mrs. Loretta Butler-Turner, Consultant to the Small Business Development Centre (SBDC) and former Cabinet Minister; Mr. Edison Sumner, Principal of Sumner Strategic Partners and former CEO of the BCCEC; and Mr. M’Wale Rahming, Senior Partner of Public Domain.
The event’s keynote address was delivered by Senator the Hon. Michael Halkitis, Minister of Economic Affairs. Other speakers included Hon Michael Pintard, MP, Leader of the Official Opposition; Mr. Felix Stubbs, Chairman of the National Development Plan Secretariat; and Mrs. Daniela Carrera Marquis, The Bahamas Country Representative for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
The event also included a Cabinet Roundtable, comprising discussion on the importance of planning for national development, and the role of parliamentarians.
Workshop attendees included private and public sector stakeholders, including policy makers and practitioners.
The workshop was hosted and facilitated by the NDP Secretariat and the IDB, with support from the Government and Public Policy Institute (GPPI) of the University of The Bahamas (UB).
