The Vivian Group Ltd facilitated a strategic planning process to develop a three-year 2023–2026 strategic plan for the Eugene Dupuch Law School (EDLS) in Nassau, The Bahamas.
The process included the design and execution of surveys to support defining the institution’s values and culture, tools and targeted engagements to assess external stakeholder perceptions of EDLS’ delivery of the programme, and a wider institutional capacity assessment.
This exercise followed earlier Vivian Group Ltd work with the institution in the company’s facilitation of the strategic planning process that produced the School’s 2016–2019 strategic plan. Results of surveys and assessments from this previous work served as a baseline for the 2023–2026 initiative. The process also included The Vivian Group’s facilitation of off-site team retreats.
As was the experience of most organisations in The Bahamas and around the world, the COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted planning timelines and adversely so, requiring entities to delay and/or reconceive projected milestones.
Participation in the EDLS’ 2023–2026 strategic planning process – as was the case in the 2016–2019 exercise – was broad-based. Internal stakeholder participation included representation from administrative and academic staff, heads of departments, and students. External stakeholder participation included representation from alumni and employers of EDLS graduates.
The process supported the Law School in the development of a 2023–2026 strategic plan, which was supplemented with the Vivian Group’s development of an implementation framework. Implementation frameworks are essential tools for driving alignment of organisation-wide initiatives with institutional goals and priorities. They are also essential for providing a basis for monitoring institutional progress towards the achievement of strategic objectives.
